At 0.040" - the metric equivalent of 1mm - this is the thinnest rigid acrylic substrate you can engrave nicely. Thinner than 1/16", but still fully workable as a hard material rather than a flexible film. Specified by architects and model makers who need minimal material presence, and by European and Asian designers accustomed to working in metric who need an exact 1mm match without substitution.
Used for architectural scale models, engraved overlays, precision layering, and detail work where standard 1/8" or even 1/16" reads as too heavy. The rigidity holds through cutting and engraving without the warping or inconsistency you get from film-based alternatives.
