Twin-wall polycarbonate is a high-performance glazing material designed for projects that require clarity, strength and thermal efficiency. The sheet is formed from two layers of polycarbonate connected by vertical ribs that create internal air chambers. This structure produces a panel that is exceptionally rigid while remaining lightweight, with a clean linear appearance that diffuses light evenly through the material.
Compared to acrylic, twin-wall polycarbonate offers significantly higher impact resistance and maintains performance under demanding conditions. It does not crack or chip easily and holds up to repeated handling, temperature swings and long-term UV exposure. These qualities make it suitable for environments where durability and reliability are essential, whether indoors or outdoors.
Fabricators value how easily this material cuts and integrates into framing systems using standard shop tools. It performs well in both flat and gently curved installations and is commonly used for architectural glazing and protective applications. Please note that twin-wall polycarbonate cannot be laser cut.
The ribbed hollow structure provides natural insulation and softens transmitted light, making the material ideal for daylighting applications such as skylights, conservatories, greenhouse walls, pool enclosures and covered walkways. It also functions well in commercial and industrial settings where lightweight strength is required, including interior partitions, data-center containment, air-plenum walling, ceiling panels, machine guards and protective screens.
We stock clear twin-wall polycarbonate in standard sheet sizes such as 24" x 48" and 48" x 96". Custom cut-to-size services are available for all dimensions. For project inquiries or specialized fabrication needs, please reach out through our custom order form.
